JL Audio CP108LG-W3v3 Reviews
5 of 5 people found the following review helpful A Sweet Little Overachiever, December 28, 2011 By This review is from: JL Audio CP108LG-W3v3 (Electronics) I did not purchase this subwoofer from Amazon, but from an audio shop. When a 10-year old amplifier died, I purchased a new one and found myself in need of replacing the subwoofer - it simply didn't play as well with lower power. I didn't feel like trying to build a ported box and I wasn't interested in adding a dedicated amplifier to the car just for a sub. I want simplicity these days, and more efficiency when it comes to audio. To add to that, I also look for a really balanced sound since I listen to many different music genres. Strong low frequency performance (that you can really feel at high volume), a flat midrange, and detailed but "tame" high frequency response are the order of the day. Well, you can't have it all if you won't pay for it, but you can try.
I ended up auditioning the 10" ported W0, 8"inch ported W1, and 8"ported W3 over a period of about an hour. I was using an Alpine-F30 (class D) amp, which produces around 200 watts bridged into 4 Ohms (rated for... Read more
5 of 5 people found the following review helpful Excellent bass module, July 20, 2011 By This review is from: JL Audio CP108LG-W3v3 (Electronics) I recently purchased a Nissan Juke and opted to outfit my own audio system. My stereo guy suggested JL audio components along with a Pioneer Avic 930 head unit. He specifically suggested this bass module as meeting my need for good bass reinforcement without using much space or having much visual impact. After consulting with him and reading other reviews, we chose this product. I am
powering it with the subwoofer output of a 5 channel JL, D series, digital amplifier, which I believe is about 180 watts RMS.
Simply put, this is a great unit. The enclosure appears very durable and the woofer and surround are made of what appear to
be high quality materials. Obviously an 8 inch unit is not going to shake your neighbors windows, but this little unit
does extremely well and provides tremendous bass reinforcement to a wide variety of music.
Listening to classic rock, the drums come alive when they should. Crank up techno/miami bass, and I can feel... Read more
Why get anything else!, May 9, 2012 This review is from: JL Audio CP108LG-W3v3 (Electronics) I just had this box put in my truck yesterday and I felt more than obligated to write a review on every website I could find that sold this box. I have a 2012 F150 FX4 SuperCrew. This truck came with everything EXCEPT bass in the speakers. First off everyone knows that JL Audio makes amazing products. The box itself is as small as it gets which makes everyone skeptical on its performance which is expected. When they brought my truck around I heard the bass and was impressed but when I stepped inside to leave... I had to turn the bass down ALL the way because it was so loud. All the reviews, people said they thought they had a pair of 10's or 12's in their truck and I 100% believe them! I have had two 10" kickers in a ported box before and this hits just as hard! It fits under my seat perfectly and you can't even see it! This thing is amazing!
